Imagine...

Imagine having to leave your home country and leave everything behind. Imagine starting over in a foreign country. Imagine familiarizing yourself with a different culture and language. Such a transition would be difficult for anyone.

Nada Alkis left her home country Syria and came to Denmark 6 months ago. She is now an international degree seeking student at the University of Copenhagen, studying Pharmaceutical Studies.

Refugees – International Students

At the University of Copenhagen we believe that one way to help refugees feel welcome is to enable students to continue their studies. On behalf of the Danish higher education institutions, our Pro-rector Lykke Friis has engaged in a dialogue with the Danish government, local authorities, and private companies on how we – together - aid refugees into Danish society.

International Study Environment Award

At the University’s Annual Commemoration the International Study Environment Award was given to the International Mentor Programme at the Faculty of Science. The programme is run by students and the award recognizes the efforts and commitment of all the volunteers who devote time to make a difference for their fellow students from around the world and to improve the study environment.

Talent Cooperation with Novo Nordisk

The University of Copenhagen has recently signed the “International Programme of Talent” with the Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk. The aim is to improve the mobility of talented students, creating a spillover-effect for both the University of Copenhagen and selected partner universities from the International Alliance of Research Universities, as well as society.

From an increasingly cold Copenhagen, I would like to extend my warm appreciation of our cooperation - wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I look forward to connecting with you in 2016 either at the international conferences – or at site visits.
