Record number of applicants for exchange

Mobility

A record number of 1,034 UCPH students have applied to spend a semester with our overseas exchange partners. Great interest in our “super partners” confirms the potential in these partnerships.

1 November is a key date in the mobility calendar at UCPH. This is when students across all six faculties can apply to spend a semester abroad at one of our many mobility partner institutions overseas the following academic year. By the 1 November 2017 deadline, an impressive 1,034 UCPH students had applied to go overseas. This is an increase of 11.5% compared to the year before.

Of the 1,034 applicants, we were able to nominate 927 for an exchange.

170 UCPH students will be going to super partners University of California, University of Toronto, University of Sydney and National University of Singapore in 2018/2019. The partnerships and their capacity of up to 50 semesters have encouraged many students to apply. Looking ahead, UCPH will continue to develop our mobility partner portfolio to include slightly fewer and deeper partnerships with more student exchanges.

The growing interest among UCPH students in studying overseas shows that strategic adjustments to our mobility partner portfolio, and increased focus on working closely with faculty staff and academics across the university to reach the students have the intended positive effects. It is important to have guidance resources close the students to make their studies abroad interconnected with their studies at UCPH.

UCPH also has a spring application deadline to fill available exchange spots overseas. In addition to this, we send students on exchange through Erasmus+ and Nordplus. In total more than 2,500 UCPH studied abroad in 2016/17 with most students being abroad for periods of 3 to 6 months.
